Re: Personal favorite equipmentMy tracker has to be #1, now I haven't proven this. But lighted collars are to help keep the Yotes off your dog, I use the flashing strobe lights red, blue, yellow. If nothing else you sure know where they are at, besides that I know for a fact that at least 3 times saved the dogs life from being hit. |

Re: Personal favorite equipmentHere's another trick that I use when running pups to see what they are up to, I take these strobe lights that they sell to put on your tire stem and put them on the tag end of a zip tie thats on their collar. Also can use two diff. colors for tandem dogs. |

Re: Personal favorite equipmentI got my set at wal-mart. What type tracker unit do you guys think is best? I have been told marshall collars are the way to go since in a bind you can use reg. AA batteries. I'm old school and never had a tracker system, now with some age on me I don't keep near as close to the dogs as I used to and will be owning one this year. |

Re: Personal favorite equipmentGarmin is what a lot of guys are using, I've seen it in action and it is a lot better than the one I have now. Tracker classic isn't a bad one either, if I was to buy another one. GARMIN will be the next. It shows the distance, direction, shows how your dog is huntin. If he's blowin thru the woods or actually huntin it, that and shows where you've been and how you got there. You won't get lost with Garmin with you, I've been in some places I'd like to known how I got there. |

Re: Personal favorite equipmentI think they are only 36 hour collars? That is what bothers me about them. But everybody that has one they say you just don't loose your dog so they don't have to worry about the collars dieing. |

Re: Personal favorite equipmentBack to my must haves when I go out are a compass and the camelback water pouch....comes in handy during the summer for me and dog. One of my "boat anchors" is the night piercer light. Not well built and service sucks. Just my opinion and I consider myself easy going and patient. |

Re: Personal favorite equipmentI also never leave home with out my compass, Trying to think of a boat anchor. My ole sunburst box light, nothing like carryin a motorcycle battery with Ya. One more thing was a pair of ankle tight huntin boots, Them darn things were so heavy and once you got them on. Couldn't get them off, so I'd wake Momma up and ask her politely to help get those Balnkety Blankety boots off. She'd always smile when I asked for help, If you believe that I have some ocean front property down at Indianapolis Indiana for sale. |

Re: Personal favorite equipment
Now that is funny my wife look at a coondog site. If it were up to her there would not be a coondog on the property. |

Re: Personal favorite equipment Well for your information, my wife feels the same way. Maybe that's why I have them, at the present time the dogs are at my sons house. We get moved they'll be more than what I have now, hopefully I don't get SICK. LOL Don't know how she will ever get in to feed Timber, need a video of that one. If my wife had her way, we'd not have any thing else that eats other than us. When I had the hot rods, she really enjoyed it. Till one day I tell her she has to help clean them up, things changed real quick. Seems it's fun as long as some one else is doing the work, I build them and she'll enjoy them. Maybe that's why we don't have them any more. |

Re: Personal favorite equipmentIt's really not that she don't like them, she doesn't think they're worth the feed. They don't set on your lap, beg for treats, lick Ya,play, whine or want to go out. So she just puts up with me an my dogs, I have a house dog and she is worth more than I am. LOL |
